This program is a series of rotations designed to build your ability to achieve sales results through a combination of strong business acumen and sales leadership. You'll learn our company philosophies for building partnerships and teams, leading and developing people, plus driving customer service and sales results. You will also discover how human resources, merchandising, security and operations affect our business’ success.
This program is offered in over 50 major metropolitan cities across the country with classes beginning every March, June and August.
The Executive Development Program begins with a 10 week assignment that provides exposure to all functional areas and focuses on store business trend analysis, the customer, the team and the functions within the stores. Your next rotation will be assignment to a different merchandise area of responsibility and possibly a different store for the next 1 to 4 months. Following this rotation, you will be placed as a Sales Manager where you will continue in the development program and you will:
- Manage a multi-million dollar business and drive the profitability of that business
- Lead a wide range of activities including developing talent, coaching associates and delivering on our customer service promise
- Supervise a team of approximately 10 to 20 associates, creating a customer-focused environment

- Maintain selling floor presentation standards
- In conjunction with store management and your district teams, plan and execute merchandise placement and sales promotion set-up

Our Store Management Executive Development Program is a 10-week program designed to help you advance in your career. The Program includes on the job learning activities and experiences, computer based learning, and structured virtual classes linking you with other trainees from around the country. You will have many and varied opportunities for exposure to company leaders giving you a unique ability to learn directly from them. Your learning culminates in a Business Driving Coaching Project which you will present to your store and district leaders to share your success.
You will attend an intensive 4-day Leadership Essentials training workshop in a regional training location to learn the core basics of being a leader with a group of your peers. Here are some examples of the courses you’ll complete and their learning objectives:

- Selecting the Best People. Demonstrate the critical leadership skills that help you successfully recruit, interview, select and make job offers to strong candidates through a blended learning experience of computer simulation scenarios and in-class practice.
- Making Connections. Develop the skills to effectively orient new associates to Macy's and build strong connections between you and your new team members.
- Developing People. Learn and practice the leadership skills around having many different kinds of conversations with your associates, like setting clear performance expectations, teaching associates the skills necessary to be successful on the job, and coaching them as the explore and hone their new job skills.
