Buying/Planning Combined Executive Development Program

Learning the roles of Buyer and Planner will lay a solid foundation for your career at Macy's and Bloomingdale's. You'll analyze the sales history of specific merchandise assortments and plan allocations based on the regional needs of stores. You'll learn to make appropriate merchandise selections and work with vendors to supply the right product mix and price points. Bottom line, this program will prepare you for your first position with direct profit-and-loss responsibility for a multi-million dollar business.

What you have the opportunity to do

• Develop and implement a business plan for a multi-million dollar buying department
• Analyze and react to business trends by strategically selecting appropriate merchandise
• Develop assortment plans by store location
• Work with vendors to supply appropriate merchandise assortment and price points
• Learn the elements of financial forecasting and allocation
• Identify stock issues and opportunities by region and by store
• Maintain appropriate stock levels by managing replenishment systems
• Track key item and style performance, actual vs. plan, by store
• Analyze competitors' strengths, weaknesses and strategies

What to bring to the program

• Bachelor's degree with solid academic record, all majors welcome
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects to achieve productivity and business goals
• Ability to promote teamwork, solve problems and manage complex relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows
