Diversity

At Macy's Credit and Customer Services Group, it is important to us that our workforce mirror the cultural diversity of our surrounding communities. We value and appreciate the unique characteristics and strengths of each individual at every level within our organization. We have defined diversity as the full utilization of all human resources potential, we realize that diversity is the continuous effort to understand, value and manage similarities and differences of our associates in order to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability.

Our business strategies and philosophy reflect our efforts to create a varied and distinct workforce. Diversity works for Macy's Credit and Customer Services because it improves the process we have put in place to provide excellent customer service to an equally diverse American marketplace and to provide a positive and unique culture for our associates. We have also adopted a "diversity philosophy" in both attracting and retaining talented associates. To enhance this initiative, we have turned to local and national advertising, online Internet postings, college recruiting at universities nationwide, and active community-outreach programs in local markets. We are committed to training and developing our workforce so that qualified individuals can be readily promoted in the organization. (For more information, click onto the Learning & Development section.) In addition, a diversity course was developed which stresses the business rationale for diversity at Macy's, Inc. and attendance is required for all managers and supervisors at Macy's Credit and Customer Services.
