Contributions
From our earnings, as well as through the Federated Department Stores Foundation, Federated Logistics is able to channel contributions directly to charitable organizations, civic programs, community projects, arts/cultural and educational institutions in dozens of cities. In addition, the Federated Foundation matches qualifying employee contributions to those organizations. Below are some of the programs used to channel contributions within Federated Logistics: - Earning For Learning - Our commitment to education is demonstrated by a unique grants-for-schools initiative called "Earning for Learning," conducted with support from the Federated Foundation. Through Federated's Earning For Learning program, Federated Logistics associates earned 4 grants and contributed over $1000 and 100 volunteer hours to schools nationwide in 2005.
- Local United Way campaigns in the communities where we operate. In 2006, Federated Logistics and its associates gave about $160,000 to United Way.
Examples of recent special events at FLO include: - In April 2004, each distribution center and operation participated in Bring Your Child to Work day events throughout the country. This year, one focus for children was volunteerism, diversity and being a good community neighbor. Over 300 children participated in a volunteer & diversity activity during the day. The children of associates wrote letters to our military troops, wrote poems or drew pictures of what diversity means to them and made cards for children's hospitals.
- Also, throughout 2003 and 2004, our associates have built relationships with inner-city schools across the country. They provided support through mentoring programs, tutoring, school supply drives, reading to elementary students, and sponsoring school events.
