In an industry defined by creativity and change, New York-based Macy's Merchandising Group is a formidable force.
Our mission: Achieve our sales and margin objective while differentiating Macy's from the competition.
The Macy's Merchandising Group is charged with managing core vendor relationships in the domestic branded market. Macy's Merchandising Group works with national brands - such as Polo/Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, DKNY, Jones New York, Liz Claiborne, Nine West, Tommy Hilfiger, and Estee Lauder - to strategically guide the Macy's divisions of Macy's, Inc. in buying product assortments for stores across the country. Additionally, Macy's Merchandising Group identifies product from these brands that will be exclusive to Macy's stores.
MMG is also responsible for conceptualizing, designing, sourcing, and marketing private label and private branded goods sold at Macy's (and, in some cases, at Bloomingdale's). Some of our highly successful private brand names are - I·N·C, Charter Club/Club Room, Alfani, Style & Co., Jennifer Moore, Tasso Elba, Tools of the Trade, Hotel Collection, The Cellar, Greendog and First Impressions. Our in-house design and production teams work with product developers to identify trends in the marketplace. Macy's Merchandising Group identifies the best source for each product to bring definitive value at competitive retail prices to Macy's, Inc.'s customers with the support of 500 associates in offices in 14 nations. We drive private brand sales through aggressive and innovative marketing and sales promotion programs. MMG's private brand merchandise represents about 18.1 percent of total Macy's, Inc. sales - amounting to about $3.4 billion a year at retail.
MMG is an integrated partner with Macy's Home Store, the company's centralized organization responsible for buying, planning and marketing home-related merchandise sold in all Macy's stores. Through Macy's Home Store, the company develops and coordinates home assortments that are fresh and distinctive - making Macy's a destination in areas such as furniture, decorative home accessories, tabletop, housewares and home textiles. The Macy's bridal registry is one of the largest and most successful in America.

Henry Director
"My family is my focus and priority. The Macy's Merchandising Group culture makes it possible to maintain a work/personal life balance. This was one of the variables that first drew me to the company. The fact that Macy's Merchandising Group sponsors a summer picnic, 'bring your kids to work' day and also accommodates us with convenient summer hours, shows me their commitment to its employees and what they find important." |
